This incredible antique survivor has been in the same private collection for many years, Made in Victorian England in around 1890. This handmade golden claw setting is holding one of the most outstanding opals I have ever seen. The colour of this gem just takes your breath, the vividness of this stone combined with that textbook piercing lighting ridge blue is just something you rarely see. The gem has a fantastic patination to it and because the stone has been so well cut and polished it plays with the light perfectly. However what makes this truly something that separates itself from so many other black opals. Is this incredible and I mean incredible transparency. You can see I have been dealing with antique gems for over 20 years now, I can honestly say I have never seen a gem quite like it. Finished and framed perfectly with a collection of old rose cut diamonds. Thee stones just finish of the setting perfectly as diamonds always do. The look on the neckline is just jaw dropping perfection for any lover of fine antique jewellery.
