A striking antique Edwardian natural 17ct royal amethyst statement ring set into solid 18ct white gold
This truly incredible very rare antique survivor has come from a private collection of high-end jewellery in Hertfordshire just outside of London. The jewel is set with one of the largest natural amethyst gemstones of its kind that I have seen. The stone has been cut to absolute perfection, with this wonderful level of clarity and precision. The gem could have only been cut by an absolute master of the craft. However, what is so unusual here and especially for amethyst is this large square open cutlet. This was something that you only usually find in cutting from France and Russia at this time. This would make absolute sense as the gem is very likely in my view of Siberian origin. As only gems form this historic mine can display this range of colour. I love that the stone is simply displayed in a timeless four claw setting. just allowing the stone to take centre stage and my goodness does this gem catch your eye. This is a treasure that will fast become a new found favoured jewel in your collection.
